Exploring Matters of Life & Death

Thursday 25 October 2007

Strategic Futurist Marcus Barber has been invited to contribute to Volume 5 of the book series 'Death & Anti-Death' edited by Charles Tandy PhD. the full title is 'Death & Anti-Death, Volume 5: 30 years after Loren Eiseley (1907-1977)' (ISBN 978-1-934297-02-5). This edition is dedicated to Eiseley, a reknowned ecologist and anthropologist whose focus on the ideas of Charles Darwin led to critical claim in the scientific community with his 1958 book 'Darwin's Century'. Barber's contribution

will be to explore the question he considers critical to understanding issues over 'right to life' and 'right to die' perspectives, ones he feels are often posed as polar opposites.  Instead Barber's Chapter in this edition challenges the notion that there is any sense of 'free choice' when it comes to matters of life or death, and applies four rules to understanding whether an entity really is alive and what those four rules mean for behavioural choices in dealing with life or death matters.

The Volume 5 is due late December this year and we will let people know where it can be purchased.  If you'd like a brief synopsis of the chapter feel free to contact us here
