Two Years on - Planning never ends
Thursday 31 March 2022
One of the great challenges with running any organisation is keeping it on track. Strateic Planning is not about fixed methods - it's about a focus on outcomes
And that may require change, even when that change is uncomfortable.
For the best part of the last two years we've been fully engaged onsite with clients. It's not what we'd planned for, thinking we'd be rolling out our pubilc workshops at least a half dozen times across 2021. That clearlty didn;t happen. A small window around October November put us back into planning mode, again thnking we'd get back to maybe four public workshops around the country. 2022 and #Covid19 ensured again, that didn't happen from the outset. The question that emerges for us (as it may well do for you also) is 'should we persist trying to reboot the old model, or should we embrace this more dynamic and chaotic new approach?'
To date, the inhouse client work has required all available resouces and more. But the outcome for TASPI has not changed - can we assist clients to undertake a more effective and more impactful approach to their strategic planning initiatives? That means more indepth and more intense client engagement - few clients, more heavily engaged in their workplaces. There's a little bit of time emering now that we have the approach for those clients about right - more flexibility and adpativeness being built in, and more work helping them understand the required capabilities needed to act. For the rest of 2022 now that we have settled into the more adaptive way of doing things, it's a case of 'watch this space'!
